Why Lagos, Portugal is the destination for the trip you didn't know you needed

You've probably never heard of Lagos, Portugal until now. Despite the beaches here consistently being named best in Europe, TripAdvisor naming it the best undiscovered destination of 2014 and it being a totally affordable trip from Europe, North America, or Australia you haven't started planning your trip here yet. After reading this, you will now.
1. The beaches, if you've been here I don't need to say anymore than this. In fact, I'll let the photographs speak for me.

2. The foooooood. If I'm not eating I'm thinking about eating and this small town has so many restaurants that fill my stomach and my heart. Any cuisine that you are craving there's a restaurant that specializes in that. NaNaBah has an internationally acclaimed burger and a veggie burger that will blow your mind, while my favorite restaurant, Mullens has a swordfish with bernaise sauce that brings me to my knees while my meat-eating fiancé will opt for beef mozambique. Ol' Bastards and Lighthouse are both incredible for cocktails and fish and chips and Mare offers an incredible view, with an all you can eat fish and meat grill with endless side dishes.

3. Activities, or not. Lagos lets you take your holiday at your pace, offering kayaking, paddle boarding, kite surfing, wake boarding, surfing, wineries, yoga classes or just laying on the beach. Whatever you're into, or looking to get into it's all available in Lagos.

4. The nightlife. If you're not too tired from a day or activities hitting the town is so much fun. While Lagos boasts a plethora of bars and nightclubs to choose from in my humble opinion there is nowhere that compares to The Tavern. Affectionately referred to as "the tav" by locals there's no better place to grab a pint, a Somersby or any of their signature drinks like the Tavern Ice. Feeling competitive? Do a beer bong to represent your country or your hostel, try the Viking Inferno or Walk the Plank, a five shot challenge finishing with a jäger bomb and a free t-shirt. The music is music that you actually want to hear in a bar and there's a stage right up front for dancing. The perfect place to start the party.

After spending 6 months in Lagos, this hardly begins to sum up everything I love about this place but you'd be crazy not to see the rest for yourself. With affordable flights, cheap hostels and endless activities it's the perfect destination for any age, any budget and any interest.
